Man United Pursue January Transfer for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi
Manchester United is reportedly setting its sights on Crystal Palace’s standout defender, Marc Guehi, as their primary target for the upcoming January transfer window. Sources have informed Football Insider that the 23-year-old center-back is at the top of United’s wish list, and they are already conducting background checks.
Guehi has been an integral part of Crystal Palace’s campaign this season, making 14 appearances across various competitions and participating in 92% of the Eagles’ Premier League matches. His remarkable performances have also earned him nine caps for the England national team, with his international debut occurring in March 2022. As a result, he has become a regular in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad, solidifying his position ahead of next year’s European Championships in Germany.
Since joining Palace from Chelsea for a reported fee of up to £20 million, Guehi has accumulated 96 appearances in all competitions. His current contract, which brings in a reported weekly wage of £50,000, is set to run until June 2026.
With injuries affecting their defensive options, Manchester United is actively seeking reinforcements. The 2022 signing, Lisandro Martinez, has been sidelined due to injury, and Raphael Varane has struggled with fitness concerns. While Varane has made his return, he has mostly featured on the bench, as Erik ten Hag prefers to start Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
As they await their crucial Champions League clash against Galatasaray on Wednesday (November 29), Manchester United is keen to bolster their defensive ranks. The outcome of this match will significantly impact their future in the competition.
