Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper is reportedly under growing pressure following his team’s 3-2 loss to Brighton on Saturday. The club has only managed one win in their last nine games and currently sits in 14th place in the Premier League table.
Sources indicate that the pressure on Cooper is intensifying as Forest prepares to face Everton in their next game on December 2nd. While there is no immediate indication of a potential sacking if the result goes against Forest, Cooper has faced job insecurity multiple times since leading the club back to the Premier League in 2022.
In October 2022, Cooper was on the verge of losing his job with Forest at the bottom of the table. However, owner Evangelos Marinakis opted to offer him a new contract that runs until June 2025. Last season, Cooper guided Forest to a 16th-place finish after significant investment in the squad.
Despite a relatively strong finish to the 2022-23 campaign, this season has been challenging for Forest. They have dropped points against teams like Burnley and Luton and were eliminated from the League Cup in the second round.
The club is next set to face Everton before entering a busy festive schedule that includes matches against Newcastle, Manchester United, and Tottenham before the new year. Adding to Cooper’s challenges, striker Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to be sidelined for an extended period after undergoing groin surgery.
As Cooper’s team navigates a difficult stretch of games, the pressure continues to mount, and the manager will be keen to turn things around and secure more positive results in the coming matches.
