Arsenal is set to enhance its scouting prowess by bringing in highly-regarded Real Madrid scout Paulo Xavier, signaling a strategic move to tap into South American talent. The Gunners’ sporting director, Edu Gaspar, continues to strengthen the scouting department to support their transfer market strategy.
According to The Athletic, Xavier, formerly Real Madrid’s Latin America scout, has already begun his new role at Arsenal after leaving his post at the Spanish club. Collaborating with two other club scouts, Xavier will focus on scouting talent in South America, leveraging his expertise from his key role in chief scout Juni Calafat’s team at Madrid.
Having worked at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) between 2015 and 2017 alongside Edu, Xavier’s return to the Premier League is facilitated by the Arsenal sporting director. Edu was instrumental in Xavier’s appointment, showcasing the Gunners’ commitment to expanding their scouting network.
Arsenal‘s recent success in the South American market, evident in signings like Gabriel Martinelli and Marquinhos, underscores the club’s keen interest in nurturing young talents. The Gunners are linked with emerging talents like Endrick and Gabriel Moscardo, demonstrating Edu and Arsenal’s determination to secure the best prospects for the future.
As Xavier is expected to officially announce his new role in the coming days, Arsenal fans anticipate the scout’s contribution to identifying the next generation of football stars. With a focus on South American talent, the Gunners aim to maintain their competitiveness in the Premier League title race and make a mark in the Champions League under the management of Mikel Arteta. Arsenal’s strategic moves in the transfer market align with their ambition to elevate the club’s stature on both domestic and European fronts.
