Shashank Singh Replies To Punjab Kings’ Clarification On IPL 2024 Auction Blunder

The IPL 2024 auction was a spectacle where overseas players grabbed fortunes and some underdog Indian players got picked up by the franchises. However, the IPL 2024 auction wasn’t just about that; there was a moment during the auction that gathered a lot of attention. It happened when the Punjab Kings made a bid on the player named Shashank Singh, whom the franchise purchased for his base price of ₹20 lakh. PBKS was the only franchise to bid for the player, but the ruckus happened when PBKS co-owners Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia attracted the attention of the auctioneer to take the bid back, but once the bid was made, it couldn’t be undone.

In a statement released by the Punjab Kings, they clarified that Shashank Singh was always on the franchise’s target player list, and the confusion happened because of the same names of the two players that were in auction. There was another player from West Bengal who went unsold in the auction a day before this bid happened.

Punjab Kings would like to clarify that Shashank Singh was always on our target list. The confusion was due to 2 players of the same name being on the list. We are delighted to have him on board and see him contribute to our success,

Punjab Kings Tweeted

Shashank gave a thankful reply to the Punjab Kings by tweeting:

“It’s All Cool … Thank you for Trusting on me!!!!”.

Shashank Singh

Shashank Singh, a 32-year-old middle order hitter from Chhattisgarh, was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023. The middle order batter didn’t have that much impact last year overall, but his T20 stats are decent. He has played 55 matches, and with a strike rate of over 135 he scored 724 runs, including five fifties.
