Manchester City is on the brink of completing a groundbreaking £1.2 million deal for Leeds sensation Finley Gorman, marking a significant move in the transfer market. The 15-year-old attacking midfielder is set to join Pep Guardiola’s squad after months of negotiations between the Premier League giants and Championship side Leeds United.
Sources close to Football Insider reveal that a full agreement has been reached between the two clubs, with Leeds accepting the seven-figure bid for Gorman. This record-breaking transfer fee for a 15-year-old emphasizes the high regard in which the youngster is held.
Gorman, who has impressed in the under-18s Premier League this season with five appearances, two goals, and one assist, will initially sign a scholarship with Manchester City. The agreement includes the provision to convert the scholarship into a professional deal when he turns 17.
Despite efforts from Leeds to retain their promising youth talent, Gorman opted for a move to Manchester City after a visit to the club’s state-of-the-art training complex. Daniel Farke’s side engaged in extensive talks but ultimately couldn’t sway the player’s decision.
Recognized as one of Leeds’ top young prospects, Gorman’s talent has also earned him appearances for England’s under-16 side. Making his debut at just 14, he featured in friendlies against Italy and France.
Leeds United, currently sitting third in the Championship, showcased their strength with a 4-0 win over second-placed Ipswich Town. Meanwhile, Manchester City, positioned fifth in the Premier League, secured a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace and looks forward to their upcoming clash against Everton at Goodison Park on December 27. The imminent acquisition of Finley Gorman underlines City’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent for future success.
