The highest wicket-taker of the World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami, will undergo Achilles Tendon surgery after playing the World Cup with an issue with his ankle, and he even used injections to keep going in the World Cup.
Shami played the whole World Cup with an ankle issue to give all his support for the team India, which lost in the final against Australia, but Shami single-handedly carried the whole team with his amazing performance. He took seven wickets in the semi-final against New Zealand to reach the tournament’s final but could not win it. However, after that, he missed almost every series. He was absent on the South Africa tour and then the Australia one. After that, he is not in the ongoing series against England, which India has already won by leading 3-1 in five test matches.
Shami underwent surgery in London on Monday, and he also posted his picture with the caption, “Looking forward to getting back on my Feet.” He was talking to different experts after the World Cup and told them about his problem, and everyone suggested that he should go under surgery, which is not very big, but he might be available to play again in the latter half of the year but will miss the IPL which is a big blow for the Gujarat Titans because their captain Hardik Pandya is also being traded to Mumbai Indian in the winter auction which makes Gujarat Titan bit weak.
Shubman Gill is given the role of captain for the Gujarat Titans, and the team also signed the Afghanistan allrounder Azmatullah Omarzai to give him the same role as Hardik Pandya, which is going to be hard on the player, but he does have the ability to do so. Spencer Johnson is also being signed for 10 crore; they might replace Mohammad Shami in the bowling unit.
