Alexander Volkanovski Is Ready To Fight For the Title At UFC 312 Sydney

Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, after his devastating loss against Ilia Topuria at UFC 298, has taken some time off from fighting, which was a good decision as recovery after back-to-back knock-out losses is crucial for a fighter. The reigning champion Ilia Topuria is going to defend his title against the former featherweight champ and reigning BMF title holder Max Holloway at UFC 308, and according to “The Great,” he has been promised that the winner of the fight would be defending his belt against him in February in 2025 at UFC 312, Sydney.

“I plan on doing my part to bring the biggest fight here. Fighting for the title, that is what is pretty much promised to me, and February looks like the perfect date for that. I’ll be facing the winner out of Ilia [Topuria] and Max [Holloway]. Quite positively I can guarantee that.”

Despite Alex’s claims, it will be difficult for the winner of the UFC 308 main event to return to a title fight in February next year. However, Alex is flexible about fighting for an interim title against Diego Lopes in February 2025.

“You got injuries that could get in the way, other divisions for Max, so that could mean maybe an interim title [fight], which is fine. Again, anything with gold with it, I’ll be happy, so that’ll just lock me in for whoever it is that wins that [UFC 308 featherweight title fight] anyway. So even if it’s interim, that’s still a big one. I’d say it’d be an exciting one with [Diego] Lopes.”

Alexander Volkanovski has defeated Max Holloway three times so far, and Ilia Topuria, in his first crack at the title, figured out how to beat him. It will be exciting to see what plans Max Holloway has against Ilia Topuria going into UFC 308.
