Sergio Perez Discusses Last Race for Red Bull in Abu Dhabi

After a long discussion about the Red Bull Sergio Perez Contract and the ongoing scenario about next season’s F1 seat, we are not headed to the last race of the 2024 F1 season.

When the reporters asked whether the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was going to be his last race for the Red Bull Racing F1 team, he replied, “Coming to Abu Dhabi, my goal is to finish the season with a strong race. I owe the team and myself a solid and consistent performance throughout the weekend. In recent weeks, we’ve seen continuous progress, with good pace, and now we need to put all the elements together. In Qatar, everything was going well, with the podium within reach. It’s frustrating for everyone that we couldn’t turn that promising position into a concrete result.

The goal in Abu Dhabi will be to leave that disappointment behind and aim for a positive finish. It’s been a season of highs and lows for me, but I’ll give everything I have to close it in the best way possible.”

Currently, Sergio Perez is in eighth place in the Drivers Championship, which is also the last spot for any driver in the Top Four team. This makes him likely to be out of contention for next year’s Red Bull Racing reserve driver seat, but the question remains: Who will be the reserve driver?

“Checo has been a wonderful driver for us, certainly in ’21, ’22, ’23,” Horner added. “He contributed to Max’s championship in ’21, constructors’ championships in ’22 and ’23.
“And, most of all, he’s a great guy and he’s not enjoying the situation he’s in at the moment. He knows the pressures of this business and we are going to give him all the support we can to the chequered flag in Abu Dhabi next weekend and what he decides to do, that will be his decision at the end of the day.”
