“let’s describe who Colby is,” Islam Makhachev Replied To Colby Covington’s Accusations

Islam Makhachev during his fight

UFC welterweight division fighter Colby Covington is known for his bold trash talks, and the fighter doesn’t hold back from criticizing anyone. Back in 2023, “Chaos” called the reigning lightweight champ Islam Makhachev and his teammate cum mentor and former lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov “Weight Bullies.”

“Khabib and Islam were squeezing chromosomes out of their bodies during their weight cut. These guys are huge lightweights. They are bigger than me, even though I fight in a higher weight class.”

Colby said

In a recent interview, Islam Makhachev replied to the comments of the welterweight and seemed unaffected by the latter’s comments.

“First, let’s describe who Colby is. A man who can’t prove anything with his fights, but tries to be well known with his mouth. This is what he does. He doesn’t talk about fighters who are not in the Top 15. He talks about fighters who have already achieved a lot to be well-known. I think he’s one of the masters of trash talk.

Islam Makhachev said

When asked by Islam whether the comments affect him, the champ could care less about someone who doesn’t prove himself in the Octagon.

“No. Why should it bother me? It would be understandable if it were someone [who is a good fighter]. But when a person can’t fight normally, but still talks about me, it doesn’t bother me.”

For Now, Islam Makhachev is waiting to get his next fight announced, and he will most probably defend his title against Arman Tsarukyan. The two met earlier in 2019 in the Octagon, where the champ defeated Tsarukyan via unanimous decision. The two will meet again in 2025, and it will be exciting to see whether the contender raises his arm against Islam or ends up like other opponents.
