Hardik Pandya And Ashish Nehra Faced Penalties After the MI vs GT Thriller

The match 56th of the IPL 2025 played between Shubman Gill led Gujarat Titans and Hardik Pandya led Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium even after getting interrupted by rain multiple times during the game, it gave the thrill fans were looking for, though the match was a low scoring one where Gujarat Titans had to chase 156 runs in the 20 overs and due to the partnership between GT’s skipper Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler a win was looking easy but it was Mumbai Indians’ bowlers who made the path to victory for GT challenging. When the rain came for the 2nd time the DLS method was used to gave GT batters score 15 runs 6 balls which they did to get their 8th victory in the tournament.

Apart from a close defeat, Hardik Pandya, who was captaining the Mumbai Indians, has been fined INR 24 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate. This was the 2nd time in this season that the Mumbai Indians failed to manage the minimum over rate. The fine was levied on other players of the Mumbai Indians, who will pay either INR 6 lakh or 25% of their match fees.

Ashish Nehra’s Misconduct During The Match

Not only did Hardik Pandya get the wrath of the BCCI yesterday as Gujarat Titans head coach, but Ashish Nehra was also penalized for breaching the IPL code of conduct. Ashish Nehra was frustrated with the rain delays and engaged in a heated conversation with the match officials on the field. Later, the head coach was found liable for a level 1 offense and was fined 25% of his match fee and a demerit point. Though the effectiveness of demerit points can’t be felt immediately, it will be in the future if they keep piling up, leading to more stringent penalties.
