Punjab Kings, after winning the toss, decided to bat first. Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya started the innings for their side. Both batters looked in great touch, but in the 2nd over, Priyansh Arya got caught at mid-on. Mitchell Owen was next to get dismissed. Prabhsimran Singh couldn’t take his innings beyond 21 runs and got out. Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera built the partnership for the 4th wicket and scored 101 runs. Nehal Wadhera went to score his second fifty of the season. The left-handed batter got out after scoring 70 runs for his team. Shashank Singh and Azmatullah Omarzai took the score to 219 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 220 runs, Rajasthan Royals got a great start as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s aggressive play from the first ball of the chase pushed Punjab Kings bowlers on the back foot in the powerplay. In fact, in the 3rd over, Rajasthan Royals went beyond the score of 50 and reached 76 in the 5th over. Impact player Harpreet Brar stopped Vaibhav Suryavanshi by taking his wicket in the first over of his spell. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored fifty, but the Rajasthan Royals struggled to get boundaries after his wicket. Dhruv Jurel showed resistance and scored his fifty, but it wasn’t enough to take his team to reach the target as his team fell short by 10 runs.
