IND vs ENG, 3rd Test, Day 1: England Scored 251/4 At Stumps As Joe Root Remained On 99*

India vs England, 3rd test of the 5-match series started at Lord’s today with England skipper Ben Stokes winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Both India and England have made one change in their bowling line-ups, with Jasprit Bumrah returning after missing the second test and being included in the playing XI this time. Meanwhile, the home team has brought in Jofra Archer to the playing XI.

England opened with Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, both batters looking in control and running the scoreboard well until the 14th over, where the all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy first picked up the wicket of Ben Duckett and then the surprised Zak Crawley in the final ball of the over with an uneven bounce to dismiss him. England were 2 down for 44 runs, then came Joe Root and built a partnership with Ollie Pope for the 3rd wicket. Both batters took the score of England to 153 runs till the tea break as Joe Root scored his fifty.

With the first ball after the tea break, England lost another wicket as Ravindra Jadeja trapped Ollie Pope in his spin. Jasprit Bumrah was looking for his first wicket of the test match, and that came in the 55th over of the game when Bumrah sent his delivery to pass the gates of Harry Brook’s defense and shatter the stumps. England were four down but Joe Root held his end and he got the support of skipper Ben Stokes as the two built the partnership for the 5th wicket to take England’s score to 251/4 till the final delivery of Day 1.

Nitish Reddy got 2 wickets on the first day, and Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah got 1 wicket each for their team so far.
