McLaren Constructor Championship Victory: A 26-Year Wait Finally Ends

It was probably one of the most exciting constructor championships in over a decade, as McLaren sealed the title after 26 years of wait because of an amazing drive by Lando Norris, who grabbed the pole in the Abu Dhabi GP.

In the Abu Dhabi qualification, both McLaren got the perfect finish, getting 1-2 for the Abu Dhabi GP, while their rivals Ferrari got 3rd and 14th position. However, right from the first corner of the Abu Dhabi GP main race, it was changed as Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri collided, which made Piastri go back to the grid from 20th position, he had to start the race once again, but Norris kept his cool and finish the race at the pole which gave McLaren 666 points.

McLaren won the Constructor Title after 26 years of waiting. The last time they won was in 1998. After dominating years by Mercedes and Red Bull over the past two decades, it was time for McLaren to shine.

It was also a very emotional day for many drivers like Lewis Hamilton, who parted his way with Mercedes to join Ferrari after racing for them for over 12 years. Hamilton won 7 driver championships and 8 constructors. It was also the last race for Valtteri Bottas, Nico Hulkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, and Zhou Guanyu.

It was a tight F1 2024 Constructor title race, but in the end, McLaren won the title for the next season due to Lando Norris’s amazing drive. Mercedes needed to step up as it failed to do so over the last two seasons, and its car has been one of its worst-performing F1 cars over decades of domination.
