Bengaluru Horror: RCB Victory Celebration Claimed 11 Lives And Left Several Injured

Cricket fans in Bengaluru

Bengaluru’s Wednesday, which was supposed to be the day of celebration and joy for millions of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s fans, turned into a nightmare due to the stampede that happened outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The stampede reportedly claimed 11 lives and left 30+ injured. After the announcement of the “Victory Parade” by the RCB management on Wednesday, fans hit the roads and stormed into the stadium and nearby places to see their favorite players, but it didn’t turn out to be a moment of joy for many as they were crushed to death.

The incident happened before the team arrived at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, but the celebration didn’t stop though the RCB’s captain, Rajat Patidar, and the crowd’s favorite, Virat Kohli, shortened their speeches, and the event wrapped up early. The ugly truth is that apart from the poor traffic management and crowd control, RCB management, who rushed to celebrate the victory, also played a role in the incident, as pointed out by the former Indian pacer Madan Lal while talking to PTI, the veteran said

“It’s extremely unfortunate that 11 lives were lost, this tragedy should never have happened. It was completely avoidable. You celebrated in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night. What was the rush for holding celebrations in Bengaluru?”

“Who is to blame – RCB or the government? If the state government had denied permission, the celebrations wouldn’t have gone ahead. So the government is definitely accountable, but RCB is also at fault,”

Madan Lal said

Virat Kohli, mentioning the unfortunate incident, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the deceased families and those injured due to the stampede.

“At a loss for words. Absolutely gutted,” Virat Kohli wrote, posting the RCB’s official statement after the incident.
