Hardik Pandya And Shreyas Iyer Fined By BCCI After Qualifier 2 Of The IPL 2025

Punjab Kings’ skipper Shreyas Iyer played a magnificent innings against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2025 to take his team to the tournament’s finale after 10 years. The last time Punjab Kings played a final was in 2014, and under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings did it again. Though the moment is special for the franchise, it faced the wrath of the BCCI for breaching the IPL code of conduct. Not just Punjab Kings; Hardik Pandya and Co. are also going to pay a hefty fine to the BCCI.

Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians were fined for maintaining the slow-over rate in Qualifier 2. This was Punjab’s second and MI’s third time in the IPL 2025 that they were charged for breaching the over-rate clause. As captain of Punjab Kings, Shreyas Iyer was fined INR 24 lakhs, and the rest of the players, including the impact player, were fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25% of their match fees, whichever is lesser.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Iyer was fined INR 24 lakhs. “The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,”

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya was also fined INR 30 Lakh, which is the highest fine ever paid by any captain in the IPL 2025. Not just him but the entire playing XI, including the impact player, will pay either INR 12 lakh or 50 percent of their match fees.

Punjab Kings will play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final of the IPL 2025 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, tomorrow.
