The final day of the 2nd test where India needed seven wickets to register a historic victory over England at Edgbaston started with Prasidh Krishna getting the ball in his hand as he delivered the 19th over then in the next over, Akashdeep maintaining his bowling rhythm on the Day 5 got the wicket of Ollie Pope in his first over of the final day. Akashdeep completed his fifer and then Mohammed Siraj took a brilliant catch to dismiss Josh Tongue. India was one wicket away from glory, and Akashdeep drove the final nail in the coffin by picking up the wicket of Brydon Carse.
Akashdeep picked up 10 wickets in the 2nd test match as India beat England for the first time at Edgbaston. Shubman Gill was named Player of the Match.
