IND vs ENG, 3rd Test, Day 2: England Scored 387 In 1st Innings, India Lost 3 Wickets On 145 At Stumps

England, after leaving Day 1 at 251/4 with Joe Root just 1 run away from his 37th test century, started Day 2 with a boundary as Joe Root reached his century in some style. Jasprit Bumrah was hit for a boundary by England’s skipper Ben Stokes in the 86th over, but the Indian bowler had the last laugh as he shattered the stumps in the next delivery to end Ben Stokes’ innings on 44 runs. Jamie Smith came to the crease and was dropped on 5 runs by KL Rahul. Jasprit Bumrah again did his job and picked up the wicket of Joe Root and Chris Woakes back to back, though he couldn’t complete his hat-trick as Brydon Carse defended the hat-trick ball.

Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse built the partnership for the 8th wicket and tested the Indian bowlers’ patience. Jamie Smith scored his fifty as England reached 355 runs. After lunch, Mohammed Siraj picked up the wicket of Jamie Smith, and then Jasprit Bumrah completed another test fifer by dismissing Jofra Archer. Brydon Carse gave the bowlers a tough time, hitting his maiden fifty in test cricket before being dismissed. He took his team to a total of 387 runs in the first innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul opened for the Indian side and the former smashed a boundary in the first ball to start India’s innings he didn’t stop there and hit three boundaries in the over of Chris Woakes but in the next over Jofra Archer picked up his wicket to gave first shock to the Indian side. Karun Nair came and stabilized the innings with KL Rahul. Karun Nair was dismissed when the ball found the edge of his bat, and Joe Root caught a blinder at slip. Indian skipper Shubman Gill couldn’t score more than 16 runs for his team and got caught by wicket-keeper Jamie Smith.

KL Rahul scored his fifty as India scored 145/3 at the end of Day 2.
