IND W vs ENG W: India takes 1-0 lead in the 3 match ODI series after defeating England in the 1st ODI by 4 wickets.
England’s skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt won the toss and elected to bat first. India’s Kranti Goud didn’t waste much time and picked up the wicket of Amy Jones in the first over of her spell, and then she dismissed Tammy Beaumont to take her team to a great start. Emma Lamb and skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt built the partnership for the 3rd wicket and took the score of their team to 91 runs.
It was Sneh Rana who picked up the wicket of Emma Lamb and broke the partnership. Then she dismissed the skipper to get two wickets in her spell, but Sophia Dunkley didn’t let the run rate down and started scoring runs all over the park. She got the support of Alice Davidson-Richards as both batters scored fifties before getting out, due to which England reached the total of 258/6 at the end of 50 Overs.
Chasing a total of 259 runs, India started with Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana, both batters giving a stable start to their team. However, when the score reached 48 runs, Smriti Mandhana got out, and India lost its first wicket. Harleen Deol and Pratika Rawal closed the chase gap, but Sophie Ecclestone dismissed Pratika Rawal, and then the sloppy work of Harleen Deol while taking a quick single caused her dismissal. Soon, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur got out as India looked in trouble. Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues built the partnership and took India closer to the target. The former scored her fifty and remained not out to take her team to victory by 4 wickets.

IND W vs ENG W, 1st ODI: Captains’ Corner
“Happy with the way we bowled. Really happy with how we batted, especially Deepti. Her innings was key. We thought we gave away extra 20-30 runs, it was a good wicket to bat on. Fielding is something we are working on, we missed two chances today. We will try to do better. (on Rodrigues and Deepti’s stand) Jemi is calm on the field and credit goes to Deepti for the way she batted.”
Harmanpreet Kaur(India’s Captain) said post-match
“Sophia and Alice played really, really well. And I think to get up to that total, I’d say, from down to four was brilliant. But ultimately, we probably didn’t have enough runs because of those plus wickets. So, yeah, I guess that hurt us. (on outfield) It really dried out throughout our batting innings. So, yeah, with it being a midfield, we knew we were going to be running quite a lot and making sure that we could get those twos in. But, yeah, ultimately, we weren’t able to get 280 in the middle. The way that we stayed in the game for as long as we did, I think it was brilliant. We really turned the pressure on. When we got that wicket, we put the pressure on. But, yeah, obviously, Deepti played really well.
