India vs Australia 1st T20I Highlights
India’s T20I stand-in skipper, Surya Kumar Yadav, after winning the toss, chose to bowl first, and the Australian team started their batting with Steve Smith and Matthew Short. Steven Smith started well as he started dealing in boundaries. Matthew Short was slowly increasing the pace of the runs from his side, but Ravi Bishnoi drew the first blood by taking the wicket of Short in his first over. Josh Inglis came to the crease and cleared his intentions to score big by hitting his first boundary on the very first ball he faced. Steven Smith and Josh Inglis launched an attack on the young Indian bowlers.
Steve Smith scored fifty but couldn’t take his innings beyond 52 runs. Australia, though, lost a set batter, but Josh Inglis didn’t let the run rate down and scored his century in just 47 balls. Prasidh Krishna dismissed him, and Australia reached 208 runs in 20 overs.
India, while chasing the target of 209 runs, started their innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 10 runs in the first over, but India lost their first wicket in the name of Ruturaj Gaikwad in that over due to miscommunication between him and Ruturaj. Soon, Yashasvi Jaiswal, after scoring a quick 21 runs, departed. Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan didn’t let the run rate of the Indian team drop as both launched attacks on the Australian bowlers and both scored their half centuries.
India lost Ishan and Tilak Varma in quick succession, but Surya Kumar Yadav made the chase easy and got out after scoring 80 runs. India was about to win the match, but the twist came in the ultimate over when India needed 7 runs to win and they lost 3 wickets in the over. Sean Abbott ignited the hopes of Australia again, but Rinku Singh again did the job of finishing the match and hit a six in the last ball to win the match.
