India vs. Sri Lanka: India is in the finals of the U-19 Asia Cup after defeating Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the Semi-finals.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first; the opening pair of Dulnith Sigera and Pulindu Perera started the innings for their team. A miscommunication in the third over led to the run-out of Pulindu Perera in the 3rd over of the game as Sri Lanka lost their first wicket. In the next over, Dulnith Sigera was bowled by Chetan Sharma. The bowler picked another in the following delivery as Vimath Dinsara got out on a duck. A partnership between Sharujan Shanmuganathan and Lakvin Abeysinghe helped Sri Lanka revive from the early shocks. Both batters played carefully and took the score to 101.
Ayush Mhatre broke the partnership by taking the wicket of Sharujan for 42 runs. Sri Lanka’s innings crumbled after that, though Lakvin Abeysinghe scored 69 runs for his team. Sri Lanka’s innings ended with 173 runs on the board.
India’s start was terrific, chasing the target of 174 runs, with openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre starting the chase on a good note with 14 runs coming from the first over. Vaibhav Suryavanshi brought the storm in the next over by hitting 3 sixes and a boundary to take the score to 45. India was rushing towards the target; Ayush Matre got caught at 34, whereas Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored his fifty afterward. Skipper Mohamed Amaan chipped in 25 runs as India chased the target of 174 runs in 21.4 overs, winning the match by 7 wickets.
