Australian Legend Gave Warning to BCCI About Bumrah Injury Before the IPL

Read the statement of Australian veteran pace bowler Glenn McGrath about Jasprit Bumrah before the start of IPL 2024.

A shocking statement came from the Australian legendary pacer Glenn McGrath, who has concerns about Jasprit Bumrah’s load which can lead him to get injured once again and maybe then have to miss the upcoming T20I World Cup if he plays the whole tournament of IPL, which is going to start from March 22, 2024.

Bumrah missed the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 due to a back injury and the T20 World Cup 2022. He is one of the core members of Mumbai Indians who missed him in the last season of IPL and was one of the reasons they failed to perform well in crucial matches like the eliminator. Glenn McGrath is the director of MRF Pace Foundation and he replaced Dennis Lille in 2012 to give more of his expertise to the pacers who train in the foundations.

Indian star pacers came from the MRF Pace Foundation, including Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Venkatesh Prasad, R.P Singh, and Zaheer Khan. Many foreign players also trained in the foundation, including Mohammad Asif, Brett Lee, and Mitchell Jonshon. This is why Mc Grath has seen many amazing pacers in the MRF Foundation go from being top contenders to nothing in the cricket world.

What McGrath said about Jasprit Bumrah before the IPL

“Someone like Bumrah needs an off-season because he puts so much into every ball. With so much extensive effort, he needs a break. If he keeps playing, the amount of pressure created given the bowling action he has, he is bound to get injured, which he has in the past,”

Said by McGrath

Many experts and bowling legends had issues with the Bumrah short run-up because the pace he generates from his short run-up is too much for the body to hold, so he keeps getting injured. Still, if he wants to go with that same run-up, he needs to take breaks from time to time to play more matches without being sidelined on an injury bench.
