R. Ashwin savage reply on Jonny Bairstow run out question silenced Indian Journalist.

R. Ashwin since the controversial run out of England’s batter Jonny Bairstow is also making headlines as the Indian spinner is famous for his take on the “Spirit of Game” debate, and after the Ashes Test 2, the debate caught fire again following Alex Carey’s run out of Jonny Bairstow when he left the crease thinking that the ball was dead, but to his surprise it was in play and Alex Carey inflicted a run out from behind the stumps. After the controversial run-out, people were keen to know R. Ashwin’s take on the dismissal, and he replied in support of Alex Carey by praising his smartness by tweeting.

“We must get one fact loud and clear – ‘The keeper would never have a dip at the stumps from that far out in a test match unless he or his team have noticed a pattern of the batter leaving his crease after leaving a ball like Bairstow did.’ We must applaud the game smarts of the individual rather than skewing it towards unfair play or spirit of the game”

People supported Ashwin and some also countered him, but R. Ashwin doesn’t seem to be changing his stance on the “Spirit of Game,” and when Indian Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai from his Twitter account asked Ashwin and Twitteratis how they would feel if that thing happened to them, R. Ashwin was quick on that and gave a savage reply to the Journalist by saying

I would be disappointed, very disappointed, in fact gutted with myself for getting out like that.”

R. Ashwin replied

Though the runout was completely under the ICC rules and should not be debatable on the spirit of cricket grounds, the game has certain rules that should be followed, and following rules is not cheating. As per ICC 20.1.2, “The ball shall be considered dead when it is clear to the bowler’s end umpire that the fielding side and both batsmen at the wicket have ceased to regard it as in play”.
