REN vs SCO: Melbourne Renegades’ Will Sutherland guides his team to a victory against Perth Scorchers.
Melbourne Renegades won the toss and decided to bowl first. Aaron Hardie and Finn Allen started the innings for the Perth Scorchers. The latter began his innings with a bang and hit a boundary and a six in the first over of the match. Renegades’ bowlers made a comeback as skipper Will Sutherland picked up Finn Allen’s wicket to take the first wicket for his team, and then he sent Mitchell Marsh back to the pavilion on a first-ball duck. The leading run-scorer, Cooper Connolly, was bowled on a duck by Tom Rogers and then a few wickets more. Scorchers were 4 down for 46 in 6.5 overs. Ashton Agar’s innings helped his team to put some fightable runs on the board as the all-rounder scored his 50 to put 147 runs on the board at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 148 runs. The renegades’ start wasn’t good as they lost opener Tim Seifert on a duck in the first over of the chase. In the next ball, Behrendoff sent back Jake Fraser-McGurk to the pavilion as Scorchers lost 2 wickets without opening their run count. Jacob Bethell and Laurie Evans fell too after that as Renegades were 4 down for just 10 runs. Skipper Will Sutherland and Marcus Harris stabilized the innings, but Lance Morris picked up the wicket of the latter to diminish the Renegades’ chances of a comeback. That’s when skipper Sutherland decided to change the gears, and he got the support of Tom Rogers. The duo took the game away from Renegades as the skipper scored 70 runs for his team. Renegades won the match by 4 wickets.
