India’s skipper Rohit Sharma played a wonderful innings against Afghanistan in the third and final match of the T20I series. After having two bad matches where the skipper couldn’t even score a single run, in the final match of the series, he balanced that by scoring a destructive century, which was his fifth century in the T20I. Rohit Sharma got the support of left-handed batter Rinku Singh, and the two took India’s score to 212 runs, which was once looking impossible to reach as India were four down for just 22 runs on the board. Rinku Singh’s game sense has been improving match after match, and that’s what was observed by the skipper as well.
Rinku Singh scored 69 (unbeaten) in just 39 balls, while Rohit Sharma scored 121* off 69 balls. During the post-match presentation, the skipper mentioned the name of Rinku Singh, praising the southpaw for his batting brilliance during the match.
The last couple of series that he played, he showed what he can do with the bat. Very calm and knows his strength pretty well. He is coming off age and doing what is expected of him and he has done really well for India.
Rohit Sharma said
He also mentioned the importance of the role of Rinku Singh in the backend of the batting line-up by mentioning his games in the IPL over the years and then the batter’s performance in the international matches donning the blue jersey.
It augurs well for the team moving forward, wanted someone like that at the backend and we know what he has done in the IPL and he has carried that to the Indian colours as well,”
He added
