Shivam Rajesh Dube was born on June 6th, 1993, to Rajesh Dube(his father) and Madhuri Dube(his mother) in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His passion for cricket was noticed by his father, who supported his son in every phase of his life so that he could focus on his game. His father was a wrestler in his younger days, and the fighting genes were passed on to Shivam, who did everything he could to improve his batting style. His father was his first coach who made his son practice for 4 hours a day, and the hard work paid off later when he played a cricket tournament at the school level.

Shivam’s primary education happened at Hansraj Morarji Public School in Mumbai. He later started training under coach Satish Samant of Chandrakant Pandit Cricket Academy in Andheri West.

Though he missed many opportunities due to his decision to leave cricket at 14 and remained out from cricket till he was 19 years old, when he returned to cricket, his performance in various cricket tournaments made him a known name in the domestic circuit. Soon, he was included in Mumbai’s U-23 team. His debut happened for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy on 18th January 2016 when he played against Baroda. Shivam made his List A debut in 2017, playing against Rajasthan. In the match, he picked up two wickets. He played his debut Ranji trophy match against Karnataka in 2017, and his debut as the all-rounder was good with both the ball and bat. He picked up five wickets in the match and scored 71 runs with the bat.

His international career took flight after his 2019 IPL season when he was included in the Men’s team in an ODI match against Sri Lanka in Chennai. He didn’t have the debut he was looking for as the all-rounder only contributed nine runs in India’s score of 287 and was expensive with the ball in a losing cause. He was dropped from the playing XI in the next two ODI matches. His T20I debut happened against Bangladesh; however, his T20I debut wasn’t that impressive, but the batting all-rounder showed everyone his prowess in bowling by taking three wickets in the series decider against Bangladesh in a winning cause. His return to the team happened in 2024, playing against Afghanistan. He scored two consecutive fifties in the series against Afghanistan. He is yet to make his debut in the test match for India.

His debut in IPL happened in 2019 while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore(now Royal Challengers Bengaluru). He was inducted into the Bengaluru-based franchise for INR 5 crores but didn’t have the season as expected as the all-rounder played just four matches in the season, with his team ending the season at the bottom of the points table. He scored just 40 runs in the IPL 2019, and in the following season, he played more matches for RCB but only scored 129 runs. He played for Rajasthan Royals in 2021 and had a decent season. Later, he was picked up by CSK in 2022, and he started understanding his role in the team and was groomed under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. CSK retains him in IPL 2024.
