Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar praised India for their impressive performance against Pakistan in their Super 4 match, as India beat Pakistan after the match was pushed to the reserve day. India, while batting first, put a humungous total of 356 runs on the scoreboard at the loss of only two wickets, as KL Rahul and Virat Kohli both scored centuries to take India to this total against arch-rivals Pakistan. While chasing the target of 357 runs, Pakistan could only manage to score 128 runs, and India won with a massive margin of 228 runs, which is the highest run margin victory of India against Pakistan.

The India vs. Pakistan match was spoiled by incessant rain on Sunday, and it was shifted to the reserve day. India, before stoppage happened, managed to score 147 runs at the expense of 2 wickets. Both openers, India captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, scored fifties and gave India the start it needed. Later, the Indian innings were continued by KL Rahul and Virat Kohli both batted calmly and hit the ropes whenever they got loose deliveries. Virat Kohli scored his 77th international hundred.

“It would be premature to dismiss Pakistan on a single defeat; the same is applied to India, who dominated Pakistan in all departments during the match; they played exceptionally well; Indian bowlers came on to the field with an intention to take wickets; Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj all bowled well, and as a fast bowler myself, I am very happy for them; Kuldeep Yadav was very handy with the ball.
