Iyer’s debut in the Vijay Hazare trophy in 2014 marked the beginning of his domestic career. He scored 273 runs in the Vijay Hazare trophy (2014-15), and in December 2014, he had his first-class debut in the Ranji trophy(2014-15), where he scored 809 runs in the season, including six fifties and two centuries. In the following season, he scored 1321 runs, becoming the top scorer and the second to score 1300+ runs in a single Ranji season. He later captained Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare trophy(2018-19), and in that season, he scored 373 runs(highest that season).

Shreyas’s performance in domestic cricket earned him a spot in the most lucrative T20 league in the world, the Indian Premier League. The right-handed batter was purchased by Delhi Daredevils(now Delhi Capitals) for INR 2.6 crores. He justified his worth during the IPL 2015 and scored 439 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 128.36. His performance with the bat earned him the Emerging Player of the Season award. He represented Delhi Capitals for seven seasons consistently till 2021; meanwhile, he captained Delhi Capitals to its first-ever IPL final in 2020. unfortunately, he couldn’t secure a win for his side and lost to Mumbai Indians in the final. Shreyas’ International cricket career started in 2017 when he played his first international T20 game against New Zealand, but he didn’t get to bat that day. He got his first opportunity to bat in the second T20I match of the series against New Zealand, where he scored 23 runs. Iyer scored his first T20I half-century against Bangladesh in November 2019. Iyer made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in November 2017, but he couldn’t impress the crowd that much in his debut match as the right-handed batter scored only nine runs in the game. He returned hard in the next two matches and scored consecutive half-centuries, and India ended up winning the series 2-1. He got his test cap recently in 2021 when India was playing against New Zealand and scored his maiden test century in his debut.
