Is Shreyas Iyer Deliberately Skipping Ranji Matches? NCA Says He Is Fit
India’s right-handed batter, Shreyas Iyer, was ruled out of the India test series against England due to an unknown injury during the second test match, though according to reports, the batter isn’t injured and deliberately skipped the Ranji Trophy matches. Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah gave strict advice to those players who, despite being fit, were not playing in the Ranji Trophy matches for the IPL. After Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer is the new name on the list if the reports published in “The Indian Express” are true.
According to the reports, Nitin Patel (head of sports science and medicine at NCA) said that the batter doesn’t have any fresh injuries and is fit to play, while the Mumbai Cricket Association said that the player is suffering from back pain due to which he didn’t play any Ranji matches this season for Mumbai, and so far it is not confirmed whether he will be playing for Mumbai in the quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy or not.
“Shreyas Iyer was fit and available for selection as per the handover report of the Indian team after the 2nd Test match against England. There are currently no fresh injuries reported as well after his departure from Team India.

Jay Shah made it clear during the India vs. England test series that all centrally contracted players have to play red-ball matches for their respective teams if called upon by their captains.
All contracted players have been told on phone and I’ll be writing to them too. If chairman of selectors, coach & captain want you to play red-ball cricket then you gotta play. ‘Nakhre Nahi Chalenge‘ (no tantrums). And as far as Ishan Kishan is concerned, he is young, I am not saying this specifically about him as it will be applicable for all the players uniformly,”
Jay Shah told reporters
