Former Indian captain and one of the most beloved cricketers, MS Dhoni, shocked the cricket fans when he handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings to Ruturaj Gaikwad yesterday. Fans are getting worried about the future of CSK in the IPL 2024 due to this change because the last time captaincy was handed over to Ravindra Jadeja in IPL 2022, the team’s performance dipped. In the middle of the process, the management decided to get MS Dhoni back as captain. Still, CSK’s coach Stephen Fleming is optimistic this time that there won’t be any such issue under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s reign because he is more balanced and much more respectable in the team.

MS Dhoni put a lot of thought into handing over the captaincy to the youngster, and the team management respected his decision. During the practice session of the CSK before the IPL 2024 first match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, here’s what Stephen Fleming said.
To be honest, the leadership group was not ready for Dhoni to step aside last time around. This year, we will be working very hard to have a leadership plan in place. There was a bit of a celebration around the new captain.
He added
CSK will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at their home ground today, and this will be the test of the newly crowned captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, to prove himself as a potential successor of the team.
