“I can be a very good all-rounder ” Tushar Deshpande After Hitting A Hundred At Number 11

Mumbai Ranji team player and CSK bowler Tushar Deshpande hit an impressive hundred while playing at number 11.

Chennai Super Kings bowler Tushar Deshpande stunned the cricket community as the bowler hit his maiden century in a Ranji Trophy match that included batting at number 11 for his team Mumbai against Baroda in the quarterfinals. Tushar Desphande dedicated his century knock to his father, who always believed that his son could be a very good all-rounder. Mumbai registered their spot in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy after their impressive performance in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Post-match, Tushar Deshpande, while speaking to PTI, reflected on his batting performance and said this:

“Feeling very satisfied with the knock because I was batting at No 11 and I was able to do this. I always wanted to prove that I can bat, my father always believed that I can be a very good all-rounder and this innings is for him.”

Tushar Deshpande said

At the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC in Mumbai, Tushar Deshpande and Tanush Kotian created history as the duo became the first number 10 and 11 players to hit a century each in the Ranji Trophy. Tanush and Tushar added 232 runs to the team’s score. Mumbai scored 569 runs in the first inning, and based on the first inning lead, Mumbai was declared the winner. Tanush Kotian remained unbeaten on 120 off 129 balls, while Deshpande was dismissed on 123 runs. If the partnership could have lasted for 2 more runs, it would have been a record partnership for the 10th wicket in the Ranji Trophy.

In the 1991–92 season, the Ajay Sharma and Maninder Singh partnership of 233 runs for the last wicket is still a record. The pair scored the record partnership runs for Delhi against Mumbai.

Tushar Deshpande expressed his true feelings about his dismissal, and the player has no regrets about getting out, as before getting dismissed he did what he was sent for.

“The only thing that I had in mind was to play as per the merit of the ball. The ball before (his dismissal) I hit for a six and (on) the ball that I got out, it did not go my way but no grudges that we could not complete the record… another day I might get an opportunity and I will try to do that.”
