Virender Sehwag Inducted Into The ICC Hall Of Fame After 8 Years Of Retirement

There are three new additions to the ICC Hall of Fame: Virender Sehwag, Diana Edulji, and Aravinda da Silva.

India’s legendary opener and one of the most exciting cricketers, Virender Sehwag, was recently included in the ICC Hall of Fame for his immense contribution to the game of cricket. Apart from Virender Sehwag, two more cricketers are included in the hall of fame of the ICC: former Indian women’s test cricket skipper Diana Edulji and Sri Lanka’s Aravinda de Silva. All three are new additions to the list, which takes the number of ICC Hall of Famers to 112. Including Virender Sehwag in the Hall of Fame list is no surprise, as his achievements in international cricket prior to his retirement are immense. Some of his records are still to be conquered.

Virender Sehwag is the only Indian batter to score triple centuries twice in test cricket. No other Indian batter has done it as of now. After Virender Sehwag, it was only Karun Nair who hit a triple century, but he did it only once. With the addition of Virender Sehwag and Diana Edulji, the number of Indian cricketers on the ICC Hall of Fame list is now eight out of the 112 Hall of Famers. Diana Edulji became the first Indian female cricketer to be included in this prestigious list. After seeing her name on the list, she expressed her gratitude for listing her in the list and said.

It indeed is a great honour to be the first Indian Women Cricketer to be inducted and join a galaxy of cricketers, male and female from across the world. I am delighted to be considered for this award. It’s not only a proud moment for me, my family and friends but also for BCCI and Indian Women’s Cricket,

Diana Edulji said as quoted by ICC

The third one is Sri Lanka’s batter, Aravinda da Silva, who was part of Sri Lanka’s team that won the ICC ODI World Cup in 1996.
