Virender Sehwag chooses his World Cup favorite five including New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips.

Virender Sehwag named both Indian and overseas players that he would like to see in the World Cup 2023.

Former Indian star opener Virender Sehwag has recently named some of his favourite cricketers that he would like to see play in the ICC World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India. Virender Sehwag, who was also part of the ICC World Cup 2011 winning team, has recently picked his favourite five for the ODI CWC 2023, where he named both Indian and overseas players that he would like to see in the World Cup. The list of his super five includes:

Rohit Sharma, who has amassed the highest score in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, played in England. In total, he scored 648 runs during the tournament, which is the second-highest run total scored by an Indian batter in a single edition of the World Cup. Rohit Sharma is currently leading the Indian team and would be captaining India in the World Cup as well. Virender Sehwag chooses him in his batters list.

Next is Indian star Virat Kohli who needs no introduction; his class speaks for itself, and Virender Sehwag recognises his talent and dedication towards the sport; he included him in the list of his favourite five.

The next on his list is an Indian bowler whose importance in the Indian team has increased a lot in the last few years due to his performance. He is none other than Jasprit Bumrah, who can bowl both at start and in death overs and has the capability to take wickets whenever he gets the ball. He is now back in the team and is part of the Indian ODI World Cup squad. Sehwag always praised the bowler for his bowling skills and included him in his list.

Fourth and fifth on his list are both overseas players; one is Australian left-handed batter David Warner, who has quite a similar style of playing to Sehwag; his fearless approach towards the game makes him a lethal batter; and the last name on his list is that of New Zealand player Glenn Phillips, who is yet to be featured in an ODI World Cup. He found his spot in Virender Sehwag due to his batting skills, as the batter could make runs in the middle order.
