West Indies broke England’s comeback hope in the ODI Cricket

Shai Hope's inspired century, guided by advice from MS Dhoni, propels West Indies to chase down 325 against England.

Shai Hope led his West Indies team to chase down a 325 total against the crumbling England team, who had a horrific World Cup 2024. It was a brave chase by Captain Hope to give his team a strong belief before going into the World Cup Qualifiers.

The England Cricket team started off quite well as Will Jacks and Phil Salt had a 77-run partnership. Once again, Jos Buttler failed to put his team upfront and got out on just 3 runs as Gudakesh Motie took the wicket of him. Harry Brook gave a strong performance with his 7-run stand, sticking the team together, and because of him, they were able to reach the 325-run mark.

The bowling unit of West Indies did well as everyone took at least one wicket, but the best figure was delivered by Motie, who took two wickets by giving only 49 runs. West Indies started off amazingly well with Alick Athanaze and Brandon King, but Athanaze 66 stood up. However, Shai Hope’s century and finishing gave the West Indies a win, and with Romario Shepherd, it became much easier for Hope.

England needs to look at their bowling unit and also needs to look for other players for the captaincy role because Buttler is not looking good right now, and he should be rested. They lack quality spinners and need to rethink their approach because, in the last match, they looked underconfident to go up against bowlers as they were in the past two years.

Shai Hope credited his improved performance to MS Dhoni, who had talked with him about taking the game deep. He said, “I had a chat with MS Dhoni some time back and he told me that you always have a lot more time at the crease than you think and that stuck with me.
