Captain Cool, MS Dhoni became the 11th Indian cricketer inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. In the ceremony at Abbey Road Studios in London, he was named among 7 others on the ICC Hall of Fame list. Apart from MSD, South Africa’s batter Hashim Amla, Australian left-handed batter Matthew Hayden, former South Africa captain Graeme Smith, and New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori were the new induction into the ICC Hall of Fame. The prestigious club, also named Pakistan women cricketer Sana Mir and former England batter Sarah Taylor, took the total to 122.

After being named to the ICC Hall of Fame, MS Dhoni expressed his gratitude and said this.

“It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever,”

Dhoni told ICC

Former India captain MS Dhoni is the only male captain who has lifted all three white-ball format trophies. In 2007, India lifted the title under his captaincy in the inaugural T20 World Cup. Then, in the 2011 ODI World Cup, India defeated Sri Lanka in the final to lift the ODI World Cup, and after that, in 2013, India defeated England in the Champions Trophy final.

Before MS Dhoni, 10 Indian cricketers who were named in the list were Sunil Gavaskar, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Vinoo Mankad, Dian Edulji, Virender Sehwag, Neetu David.

MSD didn’t have a great IPL season in 2025 as under his captaincy, the CSK finished the 2025 season at the bottom of the points table, and it happened for the first time since the inaugural edition, but a poor season won’t affect the achievements, and records he gained throughout his career.
