Pedro Porro was signed in his right wing-back position in the last January transfer window but Matt Doherty was the player moved on as a result, with the Spaniard’s arrival coinciding with some of Royal’s best form for Tottenham. In recent weeks, he has been unavailable due to injury and sat out Sunday’s 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Newcastle.
Emerson Royal‘s agent recently suggested that the talented full-back may be looking to leave Tottenham in order to take on bigger challenges and compete for titles with a “giant” team. Despite joining Spurs just last season, the Brazilian international has already made a name for himself with some impressive performances. However, his contract is still valid for another three years, so any decision to let him go won’t be an easy one for Tottenham.
Recently, however, he has been unavailable due to injury and sat out Sunday’s 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Newcastle. Pedro Porro was signed as his replacement last January transfer window but it seems that Matt Doherty may have lost out from the situation, which came alongside some of Royal’s best form at Spurs. Nevertheless, if Emerson does decide to move away from the English club then it will surely be felt by Tottenham who have already begun preparings for their future without him.
The transfer season is ongoing and whatever decision Royal makes is sure to shape Tottenham’s future in terms of its ability to create a winning squad. Whether it’s staying with Spurs or joining a new club such as Real Madrid, his choice will become a defining factor in determining what happens next. Either way though, wherever Emerson goes it will no doubt be a great opportunity for him to further develop his talents and prove himself as one of the top footballers in Europe.
