Chelsea Hierarchy to Exercise Patience with Pochettino Amidst Premier League Struggles

Chelsea's hierarchy exercises patience with Mauricio Pochettino despite Premier League struggles.

The Chelsea hierarchy is reportedly not rushing into sacking manager Mauricio Pochettino despite the team’s current 12th position in the Premier League following a 2-0 defeat against Everton. Sources indicate that Pochettino is viewed as part of a “long-term project” at Stamford Bridge, and the club is willing to give him time to address on-field issues and balance the underperforming squad.

Despite the initial target of securing a top-four finish at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign, Chelsea’s inconsistent performances and poor away form have raised concerns. Pochettino’s side has won just five out of 16 Premier League games, conceding 26 goals. The absence of European football this season adds to the pressure after finishing 12th in the 2022-23 campaign.

The Blues, known for their significant spending, brought in 12 new players during the summer transfer window. However, their current league position mirrors that of the previous season. Chelsea aims to bounce back in their upcoming matches, starting with Sheffield United on Saturday, and they remain in contention in the League Cup, facing Newcastle in the quarter-finals on December 19.

Pochettino, emphasizing the “reality” of mid-table status, believes in addressing the long-term vision for Chelsea. While external pressure may exist, the club’s hierarchy seems committed to allowing Pochettino the opportunity to implement his strategies and make necessary adjustments in the pursuit of sustained success.
