Emotional Danny Rose Admits to Not Watching Football
Danny Rose, the former Tottenham and Watford full-back has opened up about his struggles with football as he takes a break from the sport. Despite being without a club since September, the player appeared emotional as he revealed he has completely turned his back on football, stating that he didn’t even watch the World Cup. The 32-year-old burst onto the scene with a spectacular long-range volley against Arsenal on his Premier League debut for Tottenham. With such a strong start to his career, Rose’s recent struggles highlight the harsh realities and challenges that professional footballers can face.
Danny Rose, a former Tottenham left-back, made 214 appearances for the north London side before being loaned out to Newcastle in 2019. His departure from his former club, under the management of Jose Mourinho, was captured in Amazon Prime’s All or Nothing series. Rose eventually signed a permanent deal with Watford in 2021 but only managed to make nine appearances for the Hornets before taking a break from football altogether. On Sky Sports, Rose opened up about his break from football, admitting he deliberately avoided watching the sport during that period. However, after watching Manchester City play in the Champions League, Rose began to feel the itch to return to the game he loves.
As Rose watched the football game, a wave of nostalgia washed over him. It had been a long time since he had set foot in a stadium, and he had forgotten just how incredible it could feel. Despite the cold and the rain, watching the players take to the field made him feel alive, and he relished in the atmosphere that filled the air. The passion in the fans’ voices, the roar of the crowd when their team scored a goal – it was all so powerful. But what really reignited Rose’s love for the game was the sheer thrill of watching the players in action. The way they moved, the precision they displayed, and the sense of camaraderie they shared was purely delightful. Seeing them score three points made him feel like he was a part of something special once again.
The Premier League match between Chelsea and Newcastle seemed to be a mismatch from the start, but even the most pessimistic fans of the Geordie club couldn’t have predicted what was to come. Within the first 20 minutes, the score line read an incredible 5-0 in favor of Chelsea. To make matters worse, this humiliating defeat comes at a time when Newcastle is already struggling in the league. Kieron Dyer, the former Newcastle player, was also shocked by the result and expressed his disbelief in post-match interviews. It’s understandable that the players on the losing side would feel frustrated and disappointed, with Dyer admitting that he’s been pondering his own employment status in the aftermath of such a devastating loss.
