“Ianis Hagi’s Rangers Return: Clement to Assess Versatile Midfielder’s Future”

Former Rangers and Scotland defender Alan Hutton believes that Ianis Hagi, currently on loan at La Liga side Alaves, may still have a future at Rangers under manager Clement. Hutton spoke exclusively to Football Insider, expressing his belief that Hagi’s versatility could prove valuable to the squad.

Hagi, a 25-year-old Romanian international, has shown promise during his loan spell at Alaves, contributing two goals and one assist in various competitions. His time at Rangers was marred by a knee injury that kept him sidelined for nearly two seasons, but across five campaigns, he managed to amass 16 goals and 21 assists in 99 appearances for the club.

Hutton emphasized that the decision to send Hagi on loan occurred under a different managerial regime, suggesting that former coach Michael Beale may have had specific preferences. However, he pointed out that Hagi’s ability to play in multiple positions, including the number 10 role and on the right side, could make him a valuable asset for Rangers.

While Rangers currently have depth in the areas where Hagi typically plays, Hutton believes that the midfielder’s skill and versatility could still be a significant addition to the squad. He anticipates that Hagi will be given a chance to prove himself upon his return, whether during pre-season or other opportunities.

Hutton also highlighted that Clement, Rangers’ manager, is unlikely to dismiss players without personally assessing their potential contributions to the team. As a result, there remains an opportunity for Hagi to make his mark and secure a place in the Rangers squad.

Hagi’s future at Rangers will likely depend on his performances and how well he fits into Clement’s tactical plans. Rangers fans will be eager to see if the talented midfielder can make a successful return to the club where he showed promise before his loan spell in La Liga.
