Manchester United’s European Dreams Dangle by a Thread After 3-3 Draw with Galatasaray FC

Andre Onana's nightmarish performance haunts Manchester United as they settle for a 3-3 draw against Galatasaray.

Manchester United are in a precarious position in the Champions League after a thrilling 3-3 draw with Galatasaray in Istanbul. The Turkish side returned from two goals down and then leveled again after United restored their lead.

The goals for the visitors came from Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, and Scott McTominay. Still, goalkeeper Andre Onana had a nightmarish performance, conceding two goals from Hakim Ziyech’s set-pieces and failing to stop Muhammed Akturkoglu’s strike.

The result leaves United at the bottom of Group A with only two points from five games. They need to beat Bayern Munich at Old Trafford next week and hope FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray draw in Denmark to advance to the last 16. The Danish side held Bayern to a goalless draw in Germany yesterday, keeping the group wide open.

United will have to put their European woes behind them and focus on their domestic form, which has been impressive lately. They are second in the Premier League, only two points behind leaders Liverpool, and have won their last four games in all competitions. They face a tricky test on Saturday when they travel to Newcastle, who are fourth in the table and have won three of their last four games.

Off the pitch, there are reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS Sport are close to finalizing a deal to buy a 25 percent stake in Manchester United. The British billionaire, who owns cycling team INEOS Grenadiers and football club Nice, is interested in investing in the club and helping them compete with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea. According to sources close to the negotiations, the deal could be announced soon.
