The Indian Men’s Hockey team has set sail for Cape Town, ready to clash against France, South Africa, and the Netherlands in a high-stakes tour from January 22nd to 28th. Captain Harmanpreet Singh leads the charge, aiming to fine-tune their game before the Olympics.

Ranked third globally, India faces a stern test against ninth-ranked France in two encounters on January 22nd and 24th. The team then locks horns with 14th-ranked South Africa on January 26th, concluding the tour against the top-ranked Netherlands on January 28th.

With a blend of youth and experience, including FIH Player of the Year 2023, Hardik Singh, the Indian team is eager to utilize this tour to enhance their performance. Captain Harmanpreet Singh emphasized the importance of the tour, stating, “It is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to work on our game together as a unit while playing against some of the best teams in the world.”

Vice-Captain Hardik Singh shared his excitement about the tour, expressing, “We have a big squad and are quite excited about the prospect of playing against top-quality international teams going into the season.”

The team’s preparatory camp in Bengaluru laid the foundation for clarity in roles, and the addition of promising youngsters adds depth to the squad. Captain Harmanpreet Singh highlighted the significance of this exposure, especially with the Olympics on the horizon.

The South African tour kicks off with India facing France on January 22nd at 1430hrs IST, marking the beginning of a crucial phase in the team’s journey towards the Olympics.
