“I think it makes sense” Alexandre Pantoja Has No Issue With Kai Asakura Getting Title Shot On His UFC Debut

Alexandre Pantoja post-fight

Kai Asakura will be fighting for the flyweight title in his UFC debut, and getting a shot at the title doesn’t make much sense to many of the flyweight contenders, but the flyweight champ Alexandre Pantoja opines differently than the criticizers as the crossover would gain much attention of the fight fans especially when the title bout is the main event of the UFC 310. Speaking to MMA Junkie, Alexandre Pantoja hit back at the naysayers and appreciated the UFC’s move to give a rising flyweight from Japan an opportunity to get the belt, as the crossover makes sense to him.

“I think it’s all about time. The life is about time. And in that time right now, I think it makes sense. I think nobody can, like, I don’t need to apologize for anyone in the division because everybody have a good fight to do it. Bring Kai Asakura, of course, that’s the crossover. Yeah? “That’s why every hater you see talking about, ‘UFC need to make a crossover, blah, blah, blah …’ And then, when UFC did that, the haters come back and say, ‘Hey, Asakura don’t deserve to fight for the belt.'”

Speaking on Flyweight contender Brandon Royval’s recent split decision victory, he reminded that he has already beaten Royval twice. Showing confidence in his abilities, he said that it is suitable for the division that young talent is coming as everybody will get to fight the Japanese martial artist after UFC 310.

And I think it makes sense. This time, nobody can say nothing. And that’s good for the all division too because after my fight with Asakura, everybody gonna get the opportunity to fight with this guy too. He’s good for the crowd, for the all division.”
