India’s MMA fighter Anshul Jubli’s start in the world’s biggest MMA promotion didn’t get his way as the “King of lions” got knocked out by his opponent Mike Breeden at UFC 294 in the third round of the bout. Anshul Jubli, prior to getting knocked out, was having a good run in the cage for 2 rounds as he was ahead in the judges’ scorecard, but Mike Breeden used his experience and put pressure on the debutant to get a KO win after losing four bouts.
However, there were many reasons behind the loss of Anshul Jubli, one of which was Anshul’s eagerness to make his UFC debut, which led him to accept the fight at UFC 294 despite his opponent weighing more than 2kgs than the permissible weight limit.
After losing to Mike Breeden at UFC 294 in October 2023, Anshul Jubli remained out of the MMA scene for over a year and suffered injuries. Meanwhile, the UFC booked him for his next fight as he healed. This time, he will be fighting Australian MMA fighter Quillan Salkilld on the latter’s UFC debut. Quillan Salkilld got the contract after his impressive performance in the Dana White Contender Series, where he won against Gauge Young via unanimous decision.
Both fighters have only one loss so far in their professional MMA career, with Anshul getting his first professional defeat on his debut at the UFC, whereas Quillan Salkilld got his first defeat on his professional MMA debut. Since then, the Australian made a spectacular comeback and went on to win 7 straight bouts to make his name in the MMA. It will be a test for both fighters as both will look to register their first win in the Octagon in the second PPV card of the year, where Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis will be the event’s highlight.
