“I hope Ilia goes up to 155” Joe Rogan Wants This Fight To Happen

Ilia Topuria and Joe Rogan

UFC commentator and MMA analyst Joe Rogan is a widely known figure in the MMA circuit in his recent podcast show “The Joe Rogan Experience,” where he was hosting Matt Serra, Brendan Schaub, and Bryan Callen for the UFC 312 PPV event headlined by Sean Strickland vs Dricus du Plessis middleweight bout where the champion Dricus du Plessis defended his title against “Tarzan.” Joe Rogan, after the event was over, expressed his desire to watch or comment on an insane fight event that will feature Ilia Topuria and Alex Pereira on the same card.

Expressing his opinion on Ilia Topuria, he wants the reigning featherweight champ to move to lightweight to fight Islam Makhachev, as it doesn’t matter to him if Ilia Topuria defends his title one more time.

‘We don’t know what’s going to happen at lightweight now. I hope as crazy as it sounds, I hope Ilia goes up to 155…Ilia goes up to 155, I don’t care if he [Topuria] defended the title one time or didn’t who cares.”

Joe Rogan said

Brendan Schaub took the imagination one step further and added one more fight to it, where Dricus du Plessis would defend his middleweight title against the light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira on the same card. Joe Rogan excitedly called the potential fight card “Greatest of all fight cards.”

Ilia Topuria has called out lightweight champ Islam Makhachev multiple times in the past. In fact, post UFC 311, Islam defended his title for the fifth time while fighting against Renato Moicano in the main event. The Georgian-Spaniard mixed martial artist took to X and made bold claims, in which he said that he would win against Islam easily.

“Islam, if I want to, I can finish you. If I want to, I can knock you out. I’ll make it look easy. See you soon 😉.”

Ilia Topuria posted

So far, UFC is not looking to book a fight between these two, but if it is going to happen in future, then that would be insane.
