ONE Championship concluded the ONE Fight Night 16 at the Lumpini Stadium, Thailand, and the main event of the show was every fight fan waited for as it featured two ONE champions of different combat sports for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion. Jonathan Haggerty, who was the One Bantamweight Muay Thai Champion and the ONE Bantamweight MMA Champion Fabricio Andrade, fought for the vacant kickboxing title, and “The General” knocked the “Wonderboy” in the second round of the title bout, becoming two sports ONE World Champion, and from his post-fight statements, it looked like Jonathan Haggerty won’t stop now.
Jonathan Haggerty after winning the second belt in the ONE championship expressed his jubilation and said this:
“It feels amazing, you know, it’s a dream come true. Like I said before, ever since I came to the organization ONE Championship, that was the goal. One belt on one shoulder, one on the other, and we’re finally here. Maybe I need a third.”
Jonathan Haggerty
If Jonathan Haggerty wins the MMA title as well, then he will become the first male fighter in the ONE championship to have three different belts at the same time. So far, this impressive feat has been achieved by only one fighter in the ONE promotion, Stamp Fairtex, who is the ONE Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and MMA champion. If the two sports champions and the MMA world champion “Wonderboy” fight in the MMA cage, it would be a spectacle for the audience, and it would be highly possible that ONE would let these two fighters fight in the MMA bout.
