“Will work on our mistakes” Khabib Nurmagomedov Consoles Umar After UFC 311 Loss

UFC 311, though, missed out on delivering the fight it was supposed to in the main event due to the pull-out of Arman Tsarukyan 24 hours before the fight. The card brought mixed feelings in Khabib Nurmagomedov’s camp as 3 fighters under the former lightweight champ’s supervision fought at UFC 311. Tagir Ulanbekov, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Islam Makhachev stepped into the cage at UFC 311, where the no.11 ranked flyweight contender Tagir Ulanbekov gave the performance he was expected to give and defeated the then-unbeaten Clayton Carpenter via unanimous decision and reigning lightweight champ Islam Makhachev outperformed Renato Moicano to defend his title in the main event.

However, one fighter from Khabib’s camp came with a lot of hype behind him but succumbed to his opponent’s pressure in the co-main event of the UFC 311. Khabib’s cousin Umar Nurmagomedov boasted a record of 18-0 before stepping in the title bout and displayed his striking prowess in the first 2 rounds by outclassing the Bantamweight champ Merab Dvalishvili on feet and utilized his defense game, but from round 3, “The Machine” showed his relentless cardio game which was too much for an unbeaten fighter like Umar Nurmagomedov to take. The champ defended his title against the “Young Eagle” to show the fans why he holds the belt.

Umar’s cousin, former lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, consoles Umar on his first professional defeat. He still calls him one of the best fighters in the world and vows to work on his mistakes to get back in the title race.

“@umar_nurmagomedov keep your head up, junior. Yesterday you showed that you are one of the best in the world. At the moment we have a lot to work on. We will work on our mistakes and return to the title race.”
