Jonathan “The Bonus Boy” Haggerty, ONE Bantamweight Champion Proposed A New Name
Jonathan Haggerty after his emphatic win over Brazilian challenger Filipian Lobo in ONE Fight Night 19 last week. ONE two combat sports world champion Jonathan Haggerty defended his One Muay Thai Bantamweight title against Felipe ‘Demolition Man’ Lobo by knocking the challenger out in the third round of the fight. Haggerty’s ONE resume has only two losses so far in the 10 fights; the former flyweight Muay Thai world champion lost to only “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangnon in his ONE championship run. His performance in the main event earned him a third straight win bonus, due to which he suggested a monicker for himself.
Jonathan Haggerty, during his post-fight interview, said that he is thinking of changing his name to Jonathan “The Bonus Boy” Haggerty because of the fighting bonuses that he has been getting since his last three fights. “The General” got a $50,000 win bonus in his last fight against Felipe Lobo; prior to that, he won a $100,000 bonus for finishing Fabricio Andrade and Nong-O-Hama.
“I might change my name to ‘The Bonus Boy’, instead of ‘The General’. Who knows?”
Jonathan Haggerty said post-fight
Jonathan Haggerty is certainly one of the best fighters on the ONE roster. The General is the reigning bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion and already gave hints to try his luck in MMA. Next, he challenged reigning ONE MMA bantamweight world champion Fabricio Andrade after their kickboxing title fight that he is next coming for his title. It would be interesting to see whether two combat sports champions add another gold to their resumes in the upcoming months or not.
