“Super” Sage Northcutt, the American MMA fighter, has recently revealed his love for the anime and his desire to fight the Japanese combat sports legend and former ONE lightweight MMA champion, ‘Tobikan Judan’ Shinya Aoki, who is not showing any signs of backing down from the challenges. The 40-year-old combat sports veteran Shinya Aoki recently at ONE Fight Night 15 “Tobika Judan” and current ONE flyweight grappling champion Mikey “Darth Rigatoni” Musumechi locked horns, and it was ironic to see Shinya Aoki getting submitted by Musumechi via an “Aoki lock,” which was Aoki’s invention. Despite his loss, he is being respected by fans for his dedication to combat sports, and Sage Northcutt is one of them.
Sage Northcutt, in a recent interview with The MMA Superfan, spoke about how great it would be to fight the legend in his homeland. Besides that, he didn’t hide the fact of being a big anime nerd and his taste for Japanese food, which were also reasons to visit the island nation once.
Well, I’ve always wanted to visit Japan, I’ve never been there, I watch a lot of anime, also my brother got me into some anime, and I know a lot of them are Japanese-based and, you know, I’m a huge fan of trying different foods so I think after the fight, if I have a fight out there in Japan one day, I think post-fight it’d be amazing to explore all the cities in Japan, try amazing food, eat some really good sushi, which is my all-time favorite food, and just enjoy myself.”
Sage Northcutt said
In his last fight at the ONE Championship, Super Sage Northcutt surprised everyone by submitting Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba in the first round via a heel hook, and now he is looking forward to another victory in his next fight, which will be happening anytime soon.
