Angad Bisht Received A Warm Welcome In India After His Road To UFC Victory

India’s MMA star Angad Bisht returned to India after his amazing victory in Round 1 of the Road To UFC event, and at the airport, hundreds of fans gathered to celebrate his victory. Angad Bisht battled against the unbeaten Phillipino fighter John Dave Almanza, whom he beat in the first round of the fight via TKO. With his victory, he moved to the semi-finals of the event, where he will face another unbeaten fighter, Donghun Choi.

He kept the hopes of millions of MMA fans in India alive with his victory. If he wins in his upcoming fight, the chances of getting a contract from the most prosperous MMA organization are almost inevitable, as UFC also gives contracts to the runner-ups. Anshul Jubli was the first Indian fighter to secure a UFC contract after his victory in the Road to UFC season 1, where he beat Jake Saragih in the event’s finals. He went on to fight in the Octagon in October 2023 but unfortunately lost his first fight in the UFC via KO.

Road to UFC’s next round is likely to happen in August 2024, and there is a possibility that Angad Bisht will face Kiro Singh Sahota in the event finals if they both win their semi-final fight. Kiro Singh Sahota sparked controversy in his last fight after the fighter refused to hold the Indian flag. Though the fighter entered the competition claiming himself to be an Indian, his gesture wasn’t received well by the Indian fans. UFC India removed his post from their page on Instagram after that incident. A fight between these two in the finals will be very personal for the Indian fans, who will cheer Angad to win the bout and secure a contract.
