“That warrants a double title fight” Dricus du Plessis Eyes A Double Title Fight After Beating Khamzat Chimaev

Dricus du Plessis after a win

UFC reigning middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis is ready to take on Khamzat Chimaev next after the latter’s UFC 308 win over former champion Robert Whittaker; Chimaev made himself undeniable to get the title shot. His victory somehow weakens the chances of Sean Strickland getting his rematch against the champion soon. In fact, Dricus du Plessis has shown interest in defending his title against Khamzat Chimaev next, and recently, in an interview with ESPN MMA, the champion revealed his plans if he went through the “Borz” with a win in his next title defense.

“Stillknocks” is planning to move up in the weight class to fight for the light-heavyweight title if he beats Khamzat Chimaev. If the UFC puts him in a rematch against Sean Strickland after that, and he manages to get a win in that as well, then he expects a double title fight from the UFC.

“If I beat Khamzat Chimaev – I beat Robert Whittaker, then I beat Sean Strickland, then I beat Israel Adesanya, then I beat Khamzat Chimaev, that warrants a double title fight. And I think that might just be it. I have a vision, and I can’t picture something more perfect than that. But to be completely honest, I do not care who it is. South Africa would go crazy no matter who I fight… At the end of the day, there’s a goal that needs to be reached, and that is fighting in my home country and getting that second belt. To do those on the same night would be pretty sweet.”

Dricus du Plessis is still undefeated in the UFC and recently defended his title against Israel Adesanya. Khamzat Chimaev, on the other hand, still has his “0” on his side, and the champion is determined to turn it into 1 if they meet in the octagon next.
