Assam’s MMA fighter Mridul Saikia is gearing up for his fight at the Road To UFC season 4, scheduled to start from tomorrow. The 28-year-old from the Indian state of Assam is the only Indian fighter in the Road to UFC season 4. Earlier, India’s Chungreng Koren was expected to name himself alongside Mridul, but he couldn’t do so due to some contract issues with the Matrix Fight Night. “The Crusher” has an undefeated professional record so far, winning all his previous 8 fights. Interestingly, he justifies his monicker “Crusher” as he has finished all his opponents in the cage, with the latest victory against Indian fighter Himanshu Kaushik at Matrix Fight Night 15.
Before his fight against China’s Agulali at the Road To UFC season 4 tomorrow, the flyweight fighter has made the qualification weight and is confident that he will make India proud.
I’m fully prepared. Winning this will bring me closer to the UFC, which has always been my dream,”
Mridul Saikia said
Mridul’s journey so far is inspiring for all the upcoming fighters who want to fight in the world’s premier MMA organization, UFC, like him. He was good at studies, but his passion for martial arts made him choose sports as his career. He loves fighting aggressively in the cage and always looks to finish his opponents. In fact, former UFC champion Forrest Griffin praised the youngster for his fighting style.
In Road to UFC season 3, India’s Angad Bisht represented India along with other fighters. Unfortunately, none of them ended up getting a contract from the UFC. Angad Bisht was the only Indian fighter in season 3 who got into the semi-finals of the event but lost to South Korea’s Dong Hun Choi. On Sony Sports and the Sony LIV app, Mridul Saikia’s fight will go live tomorrow at 6:30 PM(IST).
